"Login Type 4" Failure

$

I have four Windows Server 2012 R2 servers backing up to shared folders on a Windows Server 2012 R2 host using Windows Backup. Two of the servers are members of the host domain; the other two belong to another domain. The two foreign servers backup on schedule without problems using the identity of the host domain administrator to access their shared folders. The two local servers using the host domain administrator fail generating error 4625 with a login type of 4 which is "batch job rights".

The domain administrator is a member of the BUILTIN\Backup Operators group which has given global "Logon as a batch job" rights as well as "Allow log on locally", "Back up files and directories" and "Logo on as a service" rights assignments. If I look at the local security properties of the servers, the rights are assigned appropriately.

Finally, I can manual start the backups using the scheduled backup parameters without issue.

What am I missing here?

I am trying to restore data from a bkf file created by server 2003 using NT backup onto a 2008 server.

I have (finally) managed to install the NT Restore Utility which recognised the file and allows me to select folders and files to restore. However, after the restore runs NO files are restored. No errors are returned. Below is a copy of the report which shows that failed to restore anything...

Windows Server Backup - Recover

$

I have Windows Server Backup scheduled to backup to an external HD. Several backups have completed successfully. However I ran into a issue when trying to recover files and folders. When I try to browse the backup I get the error message "Unable to browse local disk (C:). A handle to the driver control device could not be created. Make sure the drive is installed correctly." I saw some posts online mentioned uninstalling and reinstalling "File as volume drive" under System Devices in the device manager.  However I do not see it listed after I selected Show hidden devices.

Any help would be greatly appreciate!

Thanks,

Vern

My PC and the others I have purchaced all are remotlly controlled the OS that comes with the are supported by Microsoft

worldwide. Why does my PC purchased in the US being supported by some sinkin country that barely speaks english. And they Infect, let me put it another way load the hard drive and im sure the memory or something that always puts all settings right back to the corrupt settngs. My command prompt and Win Power Shell are set on read only. If I try to partition my hard drive it will go into write protected mode. I think the middle east countrys and The China are doing this stuff. Its really hard

to detect because antimalware wont detect it. The pC is programmed to think everything is alright. And the worst part is the more you try to fix it the more pre programmed errors your PC will get via windows updates. I have been looking into PC user complaints and ouestions. And I see the same stuff I am going thru. And some fool with thee answers that never work.

Im sure they are part of this whole criminal activity. Well im fed up and I am going to take my PC to the FBI and show them all the stuff I found. The only reason imeven here writingthis is to let thes people who think they are so smart and us Americans are so dumb that we cant figure this out. This site is probably corrupt. What I want to know is why do we educate then pay our enemys to make support and market our technology. All my PCs I have purchased my AT&T internet service, Symatek, Avast antivirus all supported by some one with a middle east accent. I cought one of symatc techs messing around with my PC an hour after i eded my remote session. When I called to complain al they said was, what would you like us to do about it. Just like when I explain for 10 minuites my problem Microsoft worldwide partners tech

all I get is so let me get this right you cannot get on the internet. My problem has nothing to do with the Internet except they are using my PC and alot off other peoplesPC to steal personal info. And sent spam to everyone. And then our stupid goverment wonder why our economy is going down the toilet. Well let me see we educate them give themall our jobs let them set up shop in the us and use our technology to take revenues out off our pocket stealing our info to direct us to there companys. And you know what we get. Let me see screwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwed

Hello,

We are using Windows Server Backup to backup some HyperV VMs. Can we create an incremental backup schedule for VMs? Every night a full backup is being taken.

DPM is not an option in our environment.

Bare Metal Restore to slightly different config

$

So, I have a machine, Windows Server 2012, that has it's boot volume on a RAID 10 3ware array that we're wanting to split the OS from the data into two disks.  That sounds easy, until you do a full Bare Metal Recovery, restore it to the new drive (which is larger, so no nasty errors) and everything is swell until you boot.  We get about 15 seconds into the loading on that new drive and BSOD.  It does it with Safe Mode and with normal boot.  Haven't turned on boot logging or turned off automatic restart yet.  Yes, I've read myself silly including:

Restoring a Win7 CompetePC image in Hyper-V - http://www.minasi.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=31980

where they suggest the same thing as...

SATA mode of boot drive - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976/en-us

It's definitely the direction, but as for the "correct" switch to force, I'm uncertain.  It is the ONLY change and it's one from a SCSI miniport to something SATA/IDE (as the MB is older Tempest i5100X - S5375 with the ICH9R bridge.

Suggestions?!?  It's OK to rebuild if I have to start from scratch as it's a ADCS/File/Print server, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to resort to that.

Could not restore from the system image in ext. hard drive for Windows Server 2008 R2.

Hi,

Its been since 2 weeks I am struck with this issue. Any help is appreciated. I want to restore my server (Windows 2008 R2) to the system image I have in my external hard disk. The problem is my image is not getting recognized by the server when I chose the system repair option while booting with the OS cd.

I placed the files in the folder called WindowsImageBackup in the root folder of the hard disk. The WindowsImageBackup folder has the folder structure like this: WindowsImageBackup\my_pc_name\Backup 2014-03-09 084946\xxxxx.vhd files

I have put the MediaId file inside the "\Backup...." folder. Is it okay? And the MediaId file which I have has .file extension not .bin extension. Is there anything wrong with it?

By the way I tried using the hard disk with USB 2.0 as well as 3.0 . It did not work for both.

What should I do to make my system image recognized?

Thanks in advance!

UEFI/GTP

I have inherited a new server that someone else installed Windows Server 2008R2 onto, it contains 3x3TB disks in RAID 5 and was installed using MBR, there is a 3.5TB partition that I am unable to use because the server was not installed using UEFI BIOS and GTP disk.

1. I assume I have to reinstall the OS on this server using UEFI BIOS and selecting GTP disk to utilize all the space, is this correct?

2. Is it possible to do an image backup of the existing install, reinstall the OS, change to UEFI BIOS/GTP disk and then restore the image backup? Would this work?

3. Are there any other options available to me other then reinstalling, or using alternative methods to restore the existing install?

The server is a Dell Power Edge T320 with a dell hardware raid controller, the disks are 3TB SATA.

Thanks

Performing A BMR on SuperMicro Server

Hi.

I'm having difficulties with moving my Windows Server 2008 R2 installation to new hardware.

After successfully performing a bare metal restore the system boots up, it's able to log me in and it starts installing drivers. Once it installs all it wants my IPMI controls suddenly stop working. I'm thinking about incorrect USB driver. Everything else in IPMI (e.g. power on/off) works fine, controls work in BIOS or when selecting boot options. But not when the OS boots up, even if it's Safe Mode.

Any suggestions, please?

Backup without Deleting Moved or Deleted User Files

$

We have a group of users who have a unique backup need.

They want to ensure that if a file gets deleted on their end, that it will never be removed from the backup.  Due to the nature of their department, a deleted file could go unoticed for a long period of time and by the time they notice the file is missing it has already outlived our oldest date of retention.

Is there any type of backup/script/3rd Party solution anybody knows about that would just backup the files that have changed without removing missing files from the backup?

I appreciate it.

Hello guys,

I have 1 backup & symantec mangement server in 2 different sites with 4 nics each (2 for management & 2 for backup traffic diferent Vlan

Since this is fresh installation, in backup server we have configured 2 subnets192.168.1.x(internet) and 192.168.2.x.(backup) and added in the routing table to direct backup traffic to 192.168.2.x. for backup as we cannot keep 2 gateway in 1 server.

Since, i have not set gateway for 192.168.2.x, we are not able to contact backup server from remote site.

But, it works when i set the gateway, which i should not be doing.

Any help would be appreciated.
