I'm saddled with the task of designing a backup strategy which I've been able to do, now I wonder which is the best approach to ensuring all user documents in the domain is backed up on a central server having 6 revisions of every backup, This is to ensure there would be no data loss in any event and we can refer to the last 6 backups in the event of recovery. I would like to know.
- Which backup approach is best, I was thinking of folder redirection but some of our users have *.pst folders, which is not a good candidate for redirection.
- I want to ensure all documents i.e: excel, word, powerpoint, pdf, et al are backed up, wherever they are stored in their hard drives. But is it possible I redirect the whole drive? What are the draw backs if I do so?
- Which backup software are recommended?
- TSM readily comes to mind but are there cost effective and reliable alternatives?
Thanks as I anticipate a response
