Currently have a Server running 2008 R2. Also runs Hyper-V with 3 VMs. VM's are located on the D drive, so I gave up trying to back these up at the same time as the C, since it was timing out.
I have a daily backup setup - just VSS Full Backup the Local Disk (C:), no bare metal recovery or system state. This is backing up to a shared network drive on a different server.
Every day the backup status comes back as failed. However when I go to the destination that the backup should be going to, I'm seeing a VHD file that is 280GB, which is the expected size to see.
The error reported in Windows Server Backup is "One of the backup files could not be created. Detailed error: the parameter is incorrect"
WSB is horrible at providing any helpful error reports on what the real problem is.
Anyone have an idea why it's creating a large backup file, but reporting as failed with this error?
