Config:

Windows 2008 R2 with Mailbox server Role no DAG. We use Windows Backup and do a VSS full backup.

Problem:

We migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 about a year ago. We moved all the mailboxes and decommissioned the 2003 server. Everything was fat dumb and happy. Recently I noticed  the backup is completing with warnings. The following events are logged in the application log.

Event ID 565:

The consistency check for the component 'b2ade010-1850-43af-bb4d-17d171c2e3ee'\'Microsoft Exchange Server\Microsoft Information Store\SERVER' has failed. The application 'Exchange' will not be available in the backup created at '?2013?-?07?-?14T19:00:16.849374000Z'. Review the event details for information about consistency check issues.

Event ID 9782:

Exchange VSS Writer (instance 39b6e5db-6cdd-4d52-b4da-21a4c67f2748:5) has completed the backup of database 'Mailbox Database' with errors. The backup did not complete successfully, and no log files were truncated for this database.

Exchange VSS Writer (instance 39b6e5db-6cdd-4d52-b4da-21a4c67f2748:5) has completed the backup of database 'Mailbox Database 0671427496' with errors. The backup did not complete successfully, and no log files were truncated for this database.

Exchange VSS Writer (instance 39b6e5db-6cdd-4d52-b4da-21a4c67f2748:5) has completed the backup of database 'Public Folder Database 2074630441' with errors. The backup did not complete successfully, and no log files were truncated for this database.

What I have tried so far:

I have run eseutil with every switch known to mankind. Everything comes back as good/no errors.

I have created a new mailbox database and moved the mailboxes. Then deleted the orginal db and created a new clean one. Makes no difference.

Checked the VSS Writers and they are all showing stable/no errors.

Re-registered the .dll's associated with VSS. Makes no difference.

Uninstalled Windows Backups and re installed. No difference,

Uninstalled Windows backup, rebooted, ran script from Microsoft to cleanup the Microsoft Exchange server extensions for Windows backup, then re installed Windows backup.  No difference.

Enabled/disable circular logging. No difference.

I am out of things to try. Anyone have any ideas on what to try next or what to look at?
