In Windows Server 2016, I scheduled Windows Server Backup to perform a full bare metal backup to be stored on a NAS every night. The NAS then copies the nightly backup from the primary HDD to one of five different hard drives every
night. That way, the most recent five backups are always available on different HDDs. The Windows Server Backup log says that all backups but the first were incremental. Since Windows Server Backup replaces the backup on the primary NAS HDD with a new backup
every night, if the backups are truly incremental, then they cannot be used to restore the server. Are these backups listed in the Windows Server Backup logs truly incremental, or does the "incremental" backup simply replace all older files in the
backup to make each "incremental" backup the equivalent of a full backup? If this is the case, than each of the backups on the rotating 5 HDDs can be used to restore the server.
