Windows Server Backup of a SharePoint 2019 Hyper-V VM

Hello,

I have a test server which is exhibiting some strange behavior with Windows Server Backup.  Perhaps I am just performing the backup incorrectly and need to use another method.  It is a Hyper-V server running Windows Server 2012 R2 with guest VM's running a domain controller (2012 R2), Exchange 2013, SQL Server 2017, and SharePoint 2019.  I created a backup job on the Hyper-V server that backs up the necessary system volumes/partitions, and also includes the VM's within Hyper-V.  When checking the progress after the backup is complete the data transferred shows "xx.xx of xx.xx" as expected for everything except for the SharePoint VM.  That one shows 374.00MB of 32.99GB.  The total data transferred shows 99.10GB.  When I add up all of the VM's -except- for SharePoint it adds up to 98.73GB, including SharePoint adds up to 99.10GB.  While it was backing up SharePoint it counted up past 374MB, but from what the results show at the end it appears the SharePoint VM has not been backed up properly.

Should the backup be performed in some other way?  Perhaps running Windows Server Backup directly from the guest OS instead of from the host Hyper-V OS?

On a related note, I am curious if there would be any issue with inconsistencies of the state of the data performing the backup in this manner?  The SQL Server is also running as a VM.  Is it critical for the backup of the SQL Server and SharePoint server be done at the same time so there is no mis-match of configuration or other data between the VM's?
