Bare Metal Restore - Restore only shows time stamps for failed jobs.

Hello.

I am trying a full bare metal restore job of my SBS 2008 server using Microsoft Windows Server backup. This restore is to identical hardware including identical drives and RAID configuration. (HP Proliant DL180)

The backup has been running on the live server for months to a permanently connected USB drive. In a n average week (5 days) it will fail around 3 times. I have tried to resolve this but never found the cause. Some complete successful and as long as I can get the main server back up and running even if its a few days out of date I don't mind that.

If I look in Server Backup for the last week it looks like this:

18/11/2013 00:00 - Backup Successful

17/11/2013 00:00 - Backup Failed

16/11/2013 00:00 - Backup Succesful

15/11/2013 00:00 - Backup Successul

14/11/2013 00:00 - Backup Failed

If I click on View Details under All Backups I can see the ones that completed successfully (so the 18/16/15 November)

I disconnected the drive, connected to the test server and booted from the 2008 SBS DVD. Upon boot up I selected the option to Repair and then restore.

The server sees the drive but for some reason it only lists dates that the job failed as the possible selection of dates to restore from. The 18/16/15 November and no where to be seen. Obviously selecting any other day and the job just fails.

Server Backup on the live server is saying that there is nothing wrong. I wondered if anyone might know if I am missing something.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am in the process of running a full backup to a network share to see if that works but I really wanted to be able to test the restore from USB.

Thanks.
