Hi All,
I am creating a best practice document for my backup environment. I am currently using CommVault v10. We have a 2 node
cluster ( Windows 2012 Hyper-V ) in the environment with one cluster shared volume. I had known that Windows 2012 is
allowing parallel backups . Windows 2008 Hyper-V doesnt allow it because of the redirected IO mode. As I am currently aware of
Vmware limitation to the number of virtual machines to backup at the same time on the same datastore to 3 VMs. The reason it
is limited to 3 is to avoid overwhelming the datastore with IOs as there will be multiple Vmware snapshots created when running
the backup. In Hyper-V 2012 is there such a limit? Also how many virtual machines can be backup at the same time that is sitting on one Hyper-V node in a cluster?
If there is no answer to my question, I would appreciate if someone can point me to the right URL or pdf file as to what are the do's and don'ts that Microsoft has created so as not to have issues with backing up virtual machines.
Any info is appreciated
