We have a Windows 2008 server that currently, are doing external hard drive backups with Backup Exec 2012. Those are working fine. We would like to also do an offsite backup of this server. We were thinking of one of the Iomega NAS boxes and a static IP
address at the remote site. We also have the network hardware to set up a VPN tunnel between the two sites. We would like to be able to keep about 3 to 6 months of restorable data on this NAS so we are looking at 2TB of storage with Raid 1.
We have played with DFS but have not had any success with the Iomega boxes in the past. We were only able to make that work with another Windows 2008 server at the remote site but it did work. This solution is no good for us because we need to keep data for an extended period of time. We were hoping that we could do it without another server at the remote site.
We are just not sure how to proceed and make this work? Is there some other software that we would need to make this happen?
