We have a windows 2012 server that is using windows backup. We've set it up to do incrementals. In looking through the logs, on occasion the box does a full backup. I understand that you'd want to do a full backup and then incrementals and not just a full with 100 incrementals for restore purposes.. but what my question is.. how often does the full get run. I don't see where we have any control over when that full gets run. So what kicks off the full.. what logic does windows backup use.
We are backing up to a USB drive. We swapped out the USB drive on Tuesday, windows performed a full backup on Wednesday night. We have scheduled backups to run M-F at 6:00 pm. So after the drive was swapped out, it performed an incremental that night.
Thanks for any help
