In the windows server backup console, when an incremental occur, we can see it on screen. Can we read that information from a log or even better with powershell?

I am new to this and trying to run a simple "Hello world" program. Everything is fine when I try it directly in python, but when I go to my text editor (Geany) and try to execute I get this error message. Hi,

Let's assume I have a single DC environment (Windows Server 2012 R2). Assuming this, I have the following questions about restoration with Windows Server Backup:

• If I select the option “Perform an authoritative restore of Active Directory files”, what will be the result of it? Will this mark all, every single object of this Active Directory as “authoritative”?

• What if I perform a non-authoritative restore (default action) to restore deleted user accounts in a single Active Directory environment (only one DC, no replicate)? Do I still need to mark them as authoritative (as a best practice maybe)?

Hi All,

On our system crashd the RAID, and we must to reinstall 3 Win Srv 2012R2 (DC; File/printer; SQL servers)

The Windows Server Backup works fine before crash.

After reinstall and install all patches the Windows Server Backup work only in DC server.

On File server I changed Shadow Copy size on drive C. But not solved.

I deleted dedicated partition, and recreated it with reset Windows Server Backup.

So Windows Server Backup solved on File Server.

Bud that's way not solved Windows Backup on SQL server.

We are trying to send a scanned doc as a pdf from our richo copier/printer/scanner. None of them are going thru all of a sudden. The error message Im getting from the log file from the copier is 'sshd stop:no hostkeys available ERR:' Any idea on this one?

I'm the new IT guy here at work. Our Server O/S is Windows server 2008 R2. The old ext usb backup drives have died. I bought 4 WD passport 1TB drives. I can setup a drive to do a complete backup with no issue using windows server backup. When I put Passport 2 or Passport 3 or Passport 4 .. etc. it will not back up without me deleting the current backup job and creating one with the current weeks usb drive. My question is... how do I simply use or switch out all 4 WD 1TB Ext USB drives from week to week without deleting the current backup job. The old USB Ext drives where inter-changeable.

hye,

i have encounter a backup issue for Windows Server 2012 R2

when i backup a hyper-v using Unitrends.

as i check the 'vssadmin list writers'

i can see one error

Hi all

Quick questions but i cannot find the answer anywhere.  I have had windows server backup running on server 2008 r2 on a schedule.  for some reason last week it started to fail.  No big issue, as i just deleted the schedule and re-created. During the recreation process where i set a new schedule it asks do i want to keep the previous backups on the external usb disk that i was using which i do.  

I've now come to the issue where i need to restore files from one of the previous backups but cannot.  The issue is the label for the disk has a date stamp in the label name, eg SERVER 2016_01_01 DISK_01 and the new schedule has renamed this location. so when trying to restore in the wizard, it can see the backups are there but when i choose to restore it thinks the disk is offline and not connected because the destination label is different despite the previous backups being on there.

How can i restore these older versions just because the label is different?  Any ideas?

If i schedule backup of  widows sever 2012 r2 and for some reasons my server shuts down due to hardware failure and i do not have backup server. however i arrange another hardware.. Can i make use of that backup in new hardware to retrieve every thing..?

How would I get a report  Windows Server Backup that details:
which files were backed up
which files were missed
total size of files backed up
duration of backup
I can see these onscreen by drilling down but I want an actual report I can run/create on a daily basis via a scheduled task preferably. I want this to include backup of HyperV guests as well as host.

I am seeing a frequent backup failures. I backup to an SMB mounted NAS, and this works only about one third of the time. Generally I will see a log entry:

I installed a set of whatever Windows Updates were waiting to be installed on a Server 2012 R2 Hypervisor host running 5 virtual machines, and installed all available updates on the virtual machines on April 15. This server backups up with  full backup job at 7pm once a day - data size is about 1.43 tb all included. Backup media are two 6tb Seagate USB 3 drives connected on a USB 3 port, switched out daily. Prior to the install of the updates on April 15, the backups would typically complete by 2am the following morning. After installing the set of updates, the backups now run until at least 11 am the following morning, sometimes finishing after noon. I install Important, Recommended, and Optional updates. Prior to the April 15 update session, the last round of updates were installed 2/19. Of the 50 updates, 42 installed successfully. I do not see any of the 8 'Failed' updates on the available list of updates currently listed (all say Optional). I assume the 'Failed' status of the 8 that did not install indicate they were not needed when it got to the point of the installation. Server is set to 'Download and let me choose whether to install', so they will be already downloaded when I get the time to install them. Likely some were downloaded sometime early since 2/19, then superceded by newer updates and were not required.

Regardless, one or more of the 42 installed updates has pushed this server from less than 7 hours to over 16 hours regularly to complete the full server backup.

Hi.
I have several machines running Windows 10 and one of them windows 7 and configured backup ( History in running win 10) against a 2TB disk that is on a shared server. I have a copy configured so that made ​​each team 1 time a day and go eliminating when it detects that the disk is full, but this is done and gives an error , ie , the disc is full and copying is not performed . Shall blame the Windows 7 try to back every day? You can automate the removal of copies of Windows 7 computer in any way?
