I've got a strange one here and I could use some help; I can't seem to find any other reports of this problem.
I've got a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 STD and I'm using the built in Windows Server Backup utility to backup to an external USB drive. Every day the "next backup" shows the correct date, but the next day there is no backup in the messages window and there is no backup to restore from.
In the history for the scheduled task there is a series of events that shows the task as being triggered, running and completing in an unusually short window.
I've looked in the event logs and each day there is an event saying that the backup started, but no completions since my last reported backup. I don't see any evidence of any running backups.
Has anybody heard of this behavior before?
